Des Moines, IA is home to the third Buzzard Billy's. It opened April 28, 1999. This restaurant sits on the banks of the Des Moines River and at the east end of Court Avenue in Downtown. This location is housed in the lower level of a 1901 multi-level brick building that housed a commercial hardware supplier. The original wood beams up to two feet thick are exposed throughout.
The Des Moines location features an outdoor courtyard that is a favorite among diners and drinkers during the summer months. Occasionally, live music is featured as an added attraction. Most people in the Des Moines area will tell you that this is the best patio in town.
Buzzard Billy's Des Moines location is convenient to the Embassy Suites, Marriott, Savery, and Kirkwood Hotels. It sits among what is considered the Midwest's best Farmer's Market that is held each Saturday morning from May through October. It is also only a couple of blocks from the Civic Center that frequently features Broadway Shows, musicals and more. The Chicago Cubs minor league baseball park is only one block away and the Veterans Memorial Auditorium, which houses the Iowa Barnstoremer Arena Football team is only a few blocks away and can be reached via Downtown Des Moines' elaborate Skywalk system.
